INSURANCE
Holding the reputation of our services and employees, Exposed Africa has always provided the highest customer care of our clients and community yet keeping our topmost safety touchstones on each expedition at our hands.
We believe every life matters, and we know what it takes to plan a trip to Africa. Everything in your plan schedule is worthy but most importantly is your life. As a company, following our safety standards we believe that there is nothing more important than performing every rescue mission in a safe and right protocol.
It’s so obvious that none of the travellers would like or be prepared to take on any extra costs on their budget. Here is our advice. Please, while planning your travel, also consider purchasing travel insurance. Make sure you choose an insurance policy that suits you from a brand you can trust, with service you can rely on.
AMREF INSURANCE
You can consider AMREF Flying Doctors whom we have frequently worked with for air evacuation service in the National Parks.
Exposed Africa would like to recommend clients to book a membership with the AMREF Flying Doctors. You can inform our staff when booking any of our tour packages, if you are interested with this policy and you can get your insurance coverage voucher through us.
In case of a medical emergency, there will be one free air ambulance evacuation service from all Tanzanian wilderness areas to the recommended hospital by Professional Doctors. There is also a free 24 hours Flying Doctors Emergency Response telephone for medical advice.
AMREF (African Medical and Research Foundation) has been in existence for over 38 years as a non-profit foundation. Headquarters are in Nairobi, Kenya and they have branch offices in Tanzania (Arusha and Dar es Salaam). Unused membership fees go towards funding the work of AMREF outreach and charity evacuations. In Tanzania, AMREF funds The AMREF Muhimbili outreach program which files out specialist doctors to rural areas to treat the less fortunate and train medical staff in those areas.
The costs for this policy are as follows:
- 500km radius from Nairobi (which includes all Northern Tanzania National Parks, Kilimanjaro and Kenya) 15 US dollars per person for 14 days and 25 US dollars for two months.
- 1000km radius from Nairobi (which includes all Tanzania, the Islands of Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia, and Kenya) 30 US dollars per person for 14 days and 50 US dollars per person for 2 months.
Remember all hospital bills and medical treatment costs including medicines are not included in this service, so it is strongly advisable that additionally to the AMREF membership you hold adequate travel health insurance. Please note that your contract for this service will be directly with AMREF, NOT with Exposed Africa. We (Exposed Africa) are just an agent for AMREF. Check all conditions and details on the AMREF website at http://www.amref.org
Evacuation On Mountain Treks
For those Hiking Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru should be rest assured of their safety. We are also partners of Kilimanjaro Search and Rescue, one of the Helicopter rescue service providers based in Moshi, Kilimanjaro. Just a point to note, this is not an insurance company and they don’t provide an insurance policy but rather work with different insurance service providers to ease their rescue missions for their clients in Tanzania.
Requirement for a Helicopter Evacuation
For a successful helicopter evacuation on Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, one should acquire a travel insurance that covers medical evacuation up to 6000 meters above sea level. For Safari goers any travel insurance is applicable.
Clients should send in a copy of their insurance policy to our travel experts before arrival dates to Tanzania. It helps us incorporate all the confirmations smoothly for a quick and immediate response with our service providers and experts.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
Make sure that you have a travel health care insurance.
It should at least cover:
- Costs for doctors, hospital and medicines
- Emergency medical transportation
If you wish, you can also purchase a more comprehensive Travel Guard. You have made a significant investment in your travel plans and while in most cases everything will run smoothly, situations may arise on or before your trip that are outside of our control as your travel agent and for which we cannot be held responsible. Travel insurance may help to make your trip more worry-free by protecting your investment and yourself.
Travel insurances can cover expenses resulting from situations such as:
- Trip Cancellation and Interruption due to sickness/death of you, a family member, or a travel companion
- Emergency Medical Transportation
- Trip and Baggage Delay
- Lost or Stolen Baggage
- Doctor and Hospital Payments
- Travel Accidents
- Weather delays
We can recommend the travel insurance offered by World Nomads, Travelguard & Travel Insurance Centre.
